About Dr. Maria Cornejo Garcia, Psy.D.

Maria Cornejo Garcia is a clinical psychologist who is passionate about helping and supporting those who help and support others. With over 18 years of experience providing individual, couples, family therapy services and psychological testing in various settings, such as behavioral health hospital, forensic, and private practice, she is also committed to championing the work of mental health professionals as they dedicate their efforts toward the health and healing of those they serve.
Dr. Cornejo Garcia has been in private practice since 2011, where her more recent focus has been on research, training, supervision, and consulting. She has extensive experience working with the Latino/Spanish-speaking population in the Chicago and Chicagoland area.
Before becoming a clinical psychologist, Dr. Cornejo Garcia worked in higher education administration for six years, with a special emphasis on student retention and counseling, multicultural student affairs, and career counseling. Dr. Cornejo Garcia earned a certificate in Integrated Primary Care from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Cornejo Garcia is currently an adjunct professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Wheaton College.
