About Rensy Mathew, LPC
My name is Rensy Mathew and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My clinical focus centers on treating children and adolescents who may experience social, emotional and academic distress. I have experience working with children and adolescents in the foster care system and in the community, working with young adult survivors of sex trafficking and other experiences. I currently serve at church in student min leading a group of girls from middle school until the end of high school and in other ministries.
I also have a heart for using Christian faith in counseling by helping one to see their identity and purpose in God and helping one to walk in that through combining spiritual formation and discipleship with counseling. I believe that every person has a story and that every story is redeemable, where hope and healing and grace can be found.
I specialize in areas related to: spirituality, children/adolescents, young adults, anxiety, depression behavioral issues, peer relationships, adjustment, trauma, etc. Some interventions I use but are not limited to include: CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Play therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Christian faith.
I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I received my Bachelors degree in Global Studies with a minor in Social Work. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Moody Theological Seminary.
